The Correct RFID Tag Starts With the Material You Are Tagging

A passive UHF RFID tag that works well on cardboard or plastic may perform very differently when installed directly on metal, textile or equipment exposed to heat. Tag construction must therefore match the tagged object, installation method and working environment.

Do Not Approve an RFID Tag Using a Desk Test Alone

For industrial projects, the tag should be installed on the real object using the intended mounting method.

Test it using the actual fixed reader or handheld, antenna configuration and operating environment. This is especially important for metal assets, small tags and high-temperature applications.

A slightly larger tag with a controlled installation can sometimes provide a more reliable result than the smallest available tag.
