    FAQs

What is a UHF module (UHF RFID module)?

An embedded reader engine that implements EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-63 in the UHF band (RAIN RFID). It provides RF power, anti-collision, and tag inventory logic for OEM devices.

UHF vs. RAIN—are they the same?

RAIN is the ecosystem/branding for passive UHF RFID that follows ISO 18000-63 and EPC Gen2. In practice, “UHF RFID” and “RAIN RFID” are used interchangeably for these modules.

How far can a UHF module read?

Depends on RF power (27–33 dBm), antenna gain/polarization, cable loss, tag sensitivity/orientation, environment, and regional limits. With proper setups, multi-meter reads are typical; long-range setups can reach tens of meters.

    Which interface should I choose?

UART is common for embedded systems; RS232/RS485 suit industrial retrofits/PLCs. PoE and Ethernet are available via integrated reader designs built around these modules.

Do you provide SDK and sample code?

Yes—SDKs, demo tools, and integration guides are available per model. Contact us to access the latest packages.

How to Choose a UHF Module

    1. Antenna Count & Coverage — pick 1 port for embedded devices, 4–8 for gates/lines, 16 for portals and large zones.

    2. RF Power & Region — 27–33 dBm depending on read range; ensure FCC (902–928 MHz) or ETSI (865–868 MHz) compliance.

    3. Interfaces — UART for embedded; RS232/RS485 for industrial; PoE possible via reader baseboards.

    4. Performance in Dense Scenes — look for anti-collision, fast polling, and tag buffers for high throughput.

    5. Thermal & Duty Cycle — check heat dissipation and 24×7 stability requirements.

SDK & Firmware — availability of APIs, samples, and upgrade tools shortens time-to-market.

    Recommended Pairings

SR-MU931S → compact embedded terminals, desktop encoders.

    SR-MU961A → printers, handheld bases needing single-port 33 dBm.

SR-MU961B → 4-antenna dock door or tunnel readers.

    SR-MU961C → 8-antenna multi-zone shelves/backrooms.

    SR-MU961D → 16-antenna portals/conveyors.

    SR-MU922B → long-range lanes, sensor-tag projects (RS232/RS485).
