Real UHF RFID read distance is determined by the reader, antenna, tag, RF cable, transmit power, polarization, object material and surrounding environment. Selecting a reader only by the largest distance number can create unstable reads or unwanted reads outside the intended zone.
Output power, receiver sensitivity, anti-collision performance and reader silicon influence both read range and multi-tag performance.
High-gain antennas concentrate RF energy into a narrower read zone. Gain, polarization and installation angle should match tag movement and orientation.
